Drainpro is a family-owned drain business. We've been clearing Melbourne's drains from Oakleigh since 1999, and we added an Essendon base for the north and west.

Drains are all we do. Every van carries its own CCTV camera, hydro jetter and root cutter, so whoever turns up can find the problem and usually fix it on the same visit. You're not booking a second callout to get the job finished.

We're not always hiring. When we are, it's for licensed plumbers who want drains to be the job rather than something squeezed in between bathroom renovations.

What the work is actually like

Most days are suburban Melbourne. A blocked drain at a house in the morning, a CCTV inspection or a reline in the afternoon. Some days you're on a sewer repair with the excavator, some days you're clearing roots out of a stormwater line before the next downpour. The mix is the appeal for the people who stay.

It's physical work and it's not glamorous. You'll be on the tools, in the ground and in crawl spaces, and Melbourne weather doesn't negotiate. If you want to be told what's wrong rather than guess at it, you'll like the camera work.

• A full licence and a clean record. We work in people's homes all day.
